Budco Selected to Handle General Motors' Dealer Communications
Process Will Facilitate Communications; Strengthen Relationships

DETROIT, Sept. 29 General Motors Corporation selected
Budco, the metro-Detroit-based marketing services firm, to handle the strategy
and execution of its communications process with its dealership network.
Under the terms of the five-year contract, Budco is responsible for assembling
and distributing all materials needing to be sent from the corporation to the
7,800 GM dealers.
General Motors, like most other major corporations with a retail channel,
has a need to communicate with its business partners on a continual basis.
Budco will receive all materials (e.g., marketing materials, technical
bulletins and corporate announcements) at its facility in Highland Park,
organize and assemble them, and then distribute the packages to dealers
according to a regular weekly schedule.
"Each package that leaves our facility is highly customized to ensure that
communications are relevant and pertinent to recipients' needs," said Budco
Vice President Peter King. "The complex distribution requirements of the
program require a strong Information Technologies foundation and this is one
of Budco's definite strengths."
Budco recently built a 362,000 square foot headquarters in Highland Park,
MI and occupied it in May of this year. The facility features a state-of-the-
art warehouse utilizing bar coding, radio frequency, scanning, and web-based
technologies to manage the fulfillment process. Budco is one of the largest
small package distributors in the Midwest. The program is expected to result
in a 10-15% increase in Budco's workforce. This will have a direct and
positive impact on the local urban community.
As part of the GM contract, Budco will also handle the mail consolidation
efforts for General Motors' Service Parts Operation division in Flint, MI.
This program involves a similar, regular distribution activity to 4,000
warehouses and distributors and 16,000 retail outlets.
