Bell & Howell Releases Internet Electronic Parts Catalog for General Motors Franchise Dealerships
CLEVELAND, Sept. 27 Bell & Howell Company , the
leading global provider of electronic solutions for information access and
distribution, is pleased to announce the release of the first Internet EPC
(Electronics Parts Catalog) for General Motors franchise dealerships.
"Our Internet EPC for GM is the first of its kind for the domestic
automobile manufacturers. This product continues our leadership in
development of Internet based EPC's which began over two years ago, with our
Internet parts catalog for Hyundai Motor America. Today, over 60% of all U.S.
and Canada Hyundai franchise dealerships use our Internet EPC. Our aggressive
product strategy is to provide electronic parts cataloging solutions to every
segment of the franchise dealership market, spanning single point to multi-
franchise stores," said Chuck Rotuno, Senior Vice President & General Manager,
Global Automotive Publications.
The Bell & Howell Internet EPC solution for GM provides quick and accurate
parts look-up navigation. It allows the user to easily search by part number,
part name or simply by pointing and clicking on the part illustration. This
powerful system now enables franchise dealerships formerly using tools like
microfiche, to access GM charts, print text, illustrations and the parts
shopping list.
"The Internet EPC provides dealerships of all sizes with catalog tools
that help facilitate the fast and accurate specifying of Genuine GM Parts,"
said Edgar H. (Gar) Smith, General Sales Manager - GM Parts.
Bell & Howell currently sells ePar(TM) parts cataloging systems for
seventeen (17) automakers worldwide, and services nearly 30,000 automotive
dealerships globally. "Our ePar(TM) CD/DVD-ROM systems serve medium to large
franchise dealerships while the new Internet EPC for GM is designed for
franchise dealerships that have limited parts specification needs. Our
singular focus as an organization is to provide products and services that
enable franchise dealers to sell more genuine automotive parts," continued Mr.
Rotuno.
The new Internet EPC is available to any GM franchised dealership across
the globe, including European dealerships that use microfiche for part number
identification to maintain and repair GM vehicles built in North America.
"The Bell & Howell Internet EPC is an ideal leap forward for dealerships
whose systems do not support a dedicated parts sales staff," stated Corey
Roberts, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, for Bell & Howell Global
Automotive Publications. "We wanted to provide a value-priced, faster, hassle-
free alternative for older technologies."
The Bell & Howell Internet EPC is simple to use, available in flexible
price packages and fully supported by a customer support team. For product
