Delphi's Queretaro Plant Recognized For Environmental Commitment
QUERETARO, Mexico, Sept. 26 Delphi Automotive Systems'
Queretaro, Mexico plant will receive the Industria Limpia (Clean
Industry) Award from Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo at a recognition
ceremony in Toluca, Mexico today.
Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems' Alambrados y Circuitos Electricos S.A. de
C.V. (ACE) Plant (Plant 65) is among 60 other winners of this prestigious
environmental award in Mexico. This recognition means the Queretaro plant is
in compliance with all of Mexico's strict environmental regulations. In order
to be awarded this certification the plant had to pass a rigorous audit by
PROFEPA, the Mexican government's environmental audit agency.
"When we started up our Delphi Saginaw Steering operations four years ago
we made a commitment to the government and the community that we would not
negatively impact the environment," said Abelardo Rodriguez, director of
operations at Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems' Queretaro facility. "This
recognition is proof that we kept our promise."
The Queretaro plant actively engages in all aspects of environmental
protection including recycling paper, wood and cardboard, and treating its own
waste water through a treatment facility installed at the site.
"We are very proud of our Queretaro facility and their dedication to
environmental excellence," said Paul J. Tosch, Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems
president and Delphi Automotive Systems vice president. "Queretaro is a
shining example of Delphi's commitment to protect the natural resources and
environment wherever our facilities are located."
