Carfax.com to Launch New Service to Enhance Website; Carfax Certified Cars Designed to Facilitate Dealer-Consumer Connection
FAIRFAX, Va.--Sept. 25, 2000--Carfax, Inc., announced today that it will launch a major initiative to enhance its relationship with its dealer customers and consumers.Carfax Certified Cars, a consumer resource for locating cars with clean title histories, is set to launch this fall. Dealers around the country will begin loading inventory this month.
Currently the nation's leading provider of vehicle history information, Carfax helps millions of consumers and thousands of dealers across the nation uncover hidden problems.
Using the 17-character VIN, the vehicle history service, which contains over one billion vehicle records, can reveal past salvage histories, flood damage, lemon brands, odometer fraud and major accidents or fire damage in a vehicle's past.
"We have enjoyed a remarkably successful year," commented Dick Raines, president of Carfax. "Carfax Certified Cars represents a significant investment we're making in an effort to expand consumer access to cars with a clean title history."
Through the company's proprietary Carfax Certified Car program, consumers will be able to locate used cars and trucks in their local area. Participating dealers will have free access to the new system to list and maintain their Carfax Certified Clean Title inventory.
Every car listed in the Carfax Certified Car database will come with the Carfax Clean Title History Guarantee and consumers will have free access to a complete vehicle history report. Company research shows that the nearly 50 percent of the consumers currently accessing its website will purchase a used car within thirty days.
"In addition to thousands of used vehicles, consumers who utilize Carfax Certified Cars will have access to the myriad resources of our online partners," said Scott Fredericks, vice president of marketing for Carfax. "Additionally, we are creating a stronger connection between our Carfax Certified Dealers and the nearly 20 million consumers who visit our website each year."
Founded in 1984, Carfax pioneered the concept of a used car history report. Carfax, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Southfield, Michigan, based R.L. Polk Company.
