Visteon Promotes Safer, Cleaner, More Intelligent And Customized Journeys for Drivers
PARIS, Sept. 25 Visteon Corporation journeys
into the future as an independent company at Mondial de l'Automobile, where
the company is showcasing innovative products designed to enhance the driving
experience for both drivers and passengers alike. Visteon's technologically
advanced systems are on display in Paris from Sept. 30 to Oct. 15.
Through Visteon's products, driving becomes more than just getting from A
to B.
Every time drivers get behind the wheel, they embark on a journey; Visteon
is dedicated to making that journey safer by being able to enjoy complete
peace of mind with advanced safety technologies, intelligent by providing
technologies that help consumers to manage their time in the car, individual
by providing the technologies that allow consumers to choose vehicle features
that make driving more comfortable, stylish and fun.
To help deliver safer, cleaner, more intelligent and customized products
and technologies, Visteon focuses on being fast, flexible and flawless in its
execution. So far this year, Visteon has secured $2.3 billion in new
business. Customers included in that new business are Ford, General Motors,
DaimlerChrysler, Kia, Honda and Nissan.

Visteon: Engineering A More Intelligent Journey
Consumer research has shown that many commuters want to optimize their
driving time, every time the vehicle is used. Visteon has designed leading-
edge systems that help consumers make intelligent use of their travel time on
the road. Visteon's integrated telematics and communications technologies,
such as ICES (Information, Communication, Entertainment, Safety and Security),
help keep people in touch with the rest of the world from their cars. ICES is
a voice-activated multimedia system for sending and receiving e-mail and
downloading news in real-time from the Internet.
"Visteon's innovative voice technology makes the journey more intelligent
for commuters by allowing them to safely and efficiently conduct business
while on the road," said Jim Wynalek, vice president and general manager of
Visteon's Telematics/Multimedia business system. "The result is increased
productivity -- and a seamless interface for commuters between home, vehicle
and office."
While commuters stay up-to-date on the latest information, their children
are occupied with Visteon's Rear Seat Entertainment System. During the
journey, kids can watch movies, play video games and listen to music on
headphones using the vehicle's audio system. Other products in this portfolio
to be displayed in Paris include Visteon's Vehicle Emergency Messaging System
(VEMS), Superintegrated(TM) cockpit module and Hands-Free Entry System.

    Visteon: Creating A Safer Journey
Developing technologies to help make the journey safer for drivers and
their passengers is a top priority for Visteon. Visteon is developing
technologies that explore advanced system integration in electronics to
surround the vehicle with an electronic "cocoon." Multiple sensor technology
combined with Human Machine Interface (HMI) studies help enhance programmable
detection capabilities around the vehicle, taking object detection to the next
level for future vehicle generations. Products under development include
adaptive cruise control, extended side object detectors, advanced back-up
aids, sensors tied into braking systems, programmable mirrors, electronic
bumpers, and lane change sensors that alert the driver of potential hazards.
Also on display to illustrate Visteon's commitment to creating a safer
journey is Visteon's All-Wheel-Drive (AWD), a system that assists vehicle
performance and stability. AWD efficiently manages torque from the vehicle's
transmission to each wheel, so that drivers can feel confident that their cars
will perform more predictably in extreme driving conditions. Other products
and systems designed to enhance safety include Visteon's Adaptive Lighting,
Advanced Restraint Module and Rollover Detection Module.
"We believe it is absolutely critical to continuously improve the safety
and security for vehicle occupants during their car journeys, and our world-
class sensor electronics truly act as an enabler for these kinds of
breakthrough technologies," said John Barkley, director, Advanced Cross
Systems, Visteon. "We are very proud of the contributions we are making
toward further improving automotive safety and security."
Visteon is developing a number of products and technologies to meet the
growing need to satisfy consumer's desire for increased personal security.
For example, Visteon's Driver Vision at Night uses a concept based on proven
military heads-up display applications. Driver Vision at Night can help
improve the driver's reaction time after dark. This fully integrated system
can be activated using Visteon Voice Technology(TM). Once activated, it
provides a clear infrared image of the road ahead, allowing drivers to focus
on driving rather than on operating vehicle controls.
Visteon's Climate Control Systems have developed a family of products that
utilize sensors to ensure clear visibility with the Auto-Defog and Demist
System. This system enhances driver visibility by sensing the onset of
misting and helping eliminate misting.

    Visteon: Designing A Cleaner Journey
In addition to developing products and technologies focused on safety and
security, Visteon also is dedicated to making the driving journey as
environmentally friendly as possible. Through the design of innovative,
integrated control systems, Visteon is working to meet increasingly stringent
governmental emissions targets and to improve fuel economy for drivers.
One example on display in Paris is Visteon's Integrated Starter Alternator
(ISA), which combines the starter and alternator functions -- it decreases
vehicle emissions by as much as 15 percent. Another example on the stand in
Paris is Visteon's plastic fuel tank system that was designed to help vehicle
manufacturers meet Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) standards. This innovative
system successfully integrates components inside the plastic tank, eliminating
most of the external fuel system connections. In doing so, there is less
chance for hydrocarbons to seep into the earth's atmosphere. Other products
highlighted in Paris designed to make the journey cleaner for the environment
include, Visteon's Integrated Fuel Storage and Delivery, and Alternative
Refrigeration systems.

    Visteon: Customizing Your Journey
Finally, Visteon is dedicated to customizing the journey by allowing
drivers to choose vehicle features that make driving more comfortable, stylish
and fun. One such product is Thalie -- a tool designed by Visteon to assist
in the decision-making process by defining user preferences for the interior
of the vehicle from consumer insight and industry data. This original
approach led to the development of Slush Universal(TM), a sturdy material
designed to preserve the texture and color over time. This robust material
enables Visteon engineers to design and deliver interior systems to vehicle
manufacturers that consumers say they want and need.
Visteon's booth is located at 4 Booth 134A, at the Mondial de
L'Automobile.
