IBT to Launch Fleet Driver Safety Training Online

AUSTIN, Texas--Sept. 21, 2000--IBT Technologies, an e-learning infrastructure company, announced today that Smith System Inc., the leader in professional driver safety training and hands-on safety education around the world, selected IBT's e-learning platform to power their global e-learning initiative.
This multi-year contract will extend their current commercial driving safety programs to include interactive, Web-based courses for their corporate clients.
Smith System brings over four decades of training success to their clients, helping more than half of the current Fortune 500 organizations, including UPS, FedEx and ExxonMobil, to improve their fleet safety records. Additionally, Smith Systems' training saves their clients millions of dollars annually that would otherwise be spent on commercial auto collisions. Smith System currently delivers this training in a variety of formats including behind the wheel, video and CD-ROM.
"Typically, the perception of e-learning is that relatively new companies are implementing it. In fact, a lot of IBT clients are companies like Smith System who have a long history of success," says Deborah Kaufman, co-founder and President of IBT Technologies. "An experienced company knows that in order to grow and compete, they must incorporate the latest technology into their operations. Smith System sees not only the financial benefits of online training, but also how it will extend their current capabilities. We are happy that a leader in the fleet industry chose our platform to deliver content to their worldwide client base."
"Working with IBT provides us with a significant advantage," says Del Lisk, President of Smith System. "Without the help of an infrastructure company like IBT, we would not be able to implement e-learning because it would've been too much for us to tackle. We were very selective in our choice because we needed a partner with the same focus on quality that we have."
