Chevrolet and National Car Rental Team up for Orlando Charity
National to Provide Chevrolet Cars for Families Visiting Give Kids The World
Village, a Non-Profit Resort for Terminally Ill Children

KISSIMMEE, Fla., Sept. 21 Effective October 1, the
Chevrolet Division of General Motors and National Car Rental Corporation, a
division of ANC , are teaming up to become the official rental
car and the official rental car agency of Give Kids The World Village, a non-
profit resort for terminally ill children.
"National is proud to be part of this wonderful program, knowing that we
play an important role in providing much needed transportation and
independence to families who are going through very difficult times," said
National President Ernest Johnson.
National will supply a minimum of 100 new Chevrolet Venture vans, Impalas,
or Malibus each week to guests that visit Give Kids The World Village, a 51-
acre, wheelchair accessible resort near Orlando for terminally ill children
whose one wish is to visit the Central Florida attractions.
"Because families visiting Give Kids The World have special needs,
individual transportation is necessary for them to enjoy the area theme parks
at their own pace," Give Kids The World President Pam Landwirth said. "With
their own transportation, families can still come back to the Village to
escape from the Florida heat or to rest."
Give Kids The World Village works with more than 300 wish-granting
organizations from around the world who provide transportation to Orlando,
while Give Kids The World Village provides accommodations, attraction tickets,
and meals for a week-long, cost-free vacation.
"Considering the already significant support provided by the GM-UAW Fund
to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a tie to Give Kids The World -- who grants more
than 60 percent of all final wishes made through wish groups -- is just a
great idea," said Tom Pyden, Chevrolet's Director of Communications.
"Chevrolet's divisional theme is 'We'll Be There' and I can't think of anyone
we'd rather 'be there' for than suffering children and their families."
In addition to Chevrolet's support of the Village's rental car program,
the General Motors Foundation will provide a new Chevrolet Corvette to be used
as the centerpiece auction item during Give Kids The World's annual ball, held
in May each year. Last year, through auction items such as these, Give Kids
The World raised more than $500,000. These funds help defray the operating
costs of the Village.
National Car Rental is one of the world's largest vehicle rental companies
with more than 3,000 locations serving 65 countries worldwide. With on-site
locations at over 250 major airports in the United States, National is the
preferred rental choice for many business and leisure travelers. For more
than 50 years, National's green logo has signified industry-leading service
