Collins & Aikman Employees Join to Help Habitat for Humanity

TROY, Mich.--Sept. 19, 2000--A group of employees from Collins & Aikman Corporation joined together to volunteer for a recent Habitat for Humanity project. Together the group assisted in the building of homes near downtown Detroit, Mich.
Included among the volunteer group were representatives from Collins & Aikman's Fabrics Design and Human Resources Departments. Additionally, Joyce Jackson, Director of Staffing and Recruiting for the Company, chaperoned a twenty-member Troy, Mich.-based youth group to the development site. As a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, individuals from the Company and youth group volunteered time and service as part of a larger volunteer group assembled by Habitat for Humanity Detroit. The homes, for which all provide their assistance in building and landscaping, are located near the crossroads of Conner and Freud Roads in Detroit.
"It was a great experience. It is especially heartening to know that, as a group, each of us found the time to help others who are less fortunate. The work was not just fun, but rewarding," said the team from Collins & Aikman. "The kids from the local youth group were especially excited about the opportunity to help those less fortunate. In fact, they felt the experience was so rewarding that they have expressed a keen interest in working with Habitat for Humanity on an annual basis."
