RICHMOND, B.C.--Sept. 18, 2000--SmarTire SmarTire Systems Inc. successfully launched its new range of tire monitoring products for passenger cars, sport utility vehicles (SUV) and light trucks to Europe's largest automotive aftermarket audience in Frankfurt, Germany during Automechanika.
SmarTire's new systems were yet again the only commercially available aftermarket products at the five day exhibition ending September 10th.
Using electronic demonstration units and high impact graphics, SmarTire's products and technology were showcased to existing and potential distributors from Europe and other parts of the world. With sophisticated product demonstrations and personalized explanations, SmarTire's leading expertise in tire monitoring technologies was clearly visible. On display were SmarTire products with two installation options and three modular receiver displays. Developed over a two-year period with extensive testing and co-development with the Company's strategic partner, TRW, the products provide drivers with an early warning of potential tire failure via real-time in-vehicle displays.
Enthusiastic response was received from original equipment manufacturers, car importers, commercial distributors/ fleets, tire retailers, car accessory distributors and tire and wheel manufacturers. New contacts were obtained from Central and Eastern Europe, USA, the Middle and Far East, South Africa and South America as well as from Australia and New Zealand.
"The demand for tire safety products has become front page news and SmarTire successfully demonstrated during this exhibition the company's technological edge with new tire monitoring products for the passenger car, SUV and light truck markets," commented Robert V. Rudman, SmarTire's President and Chief Executive Officer. "The positive reaction to SmarTire's exhibition confirms our products are superior with improvements in design, performance, size and weight."
Billed as the biggest aftermarket show of its kind in the world, Automechanika attracted 3500 exhibitors and 150,000 trade visitors to the 10 exhibition halls over the five day event. Held every two years in Frankfurt, Germany, this is the second time SmarTire has exhibited. This year, SmarTire distributed 1000 invitations to trade and media representatives throughout the world. "Our public and investor relations programs have assisted greatly in creating corporate and product awareness in both the automotive and investment community," added Rudman. "Automechanika represents our launch of a very intensive product marketing strategy. Over the next several months leading up to North America's automotive aftermarket tradeshow, SEMA, from October 31 - November 3, additional marketing and targeted public and investor relations activities will be implemented."
