Feature Debuts on 2001 Model Cadillac Seville

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 18 Brose North America has
announced the first "One-Touch Up(TM)" convenience feature for door/window
regulators to be designed, engineered, developed and manufactured in North
America. The system debuts on the 2001 model Cadillac Seville.

The One-Touch Up convenience feature utilizes an indirect detection system
that automatically monitors window regulator motor speed and direction. When
an obstacle enters the path of the automatically closing window, a force of
less than 100N triggers the motor to reverse direction, lessening the
likelihood of serious injury. The system includes safeguards to avoid
mis-reversal under irregular road conditions, hardened circuitry to protect
against sudden voltage drops or changes in dynamic voltage, and smart thermal
overload protection to minimize motor overheating. Prior to customer
shipment, Brose North America fully tests the One-Touch Up system. The
One-Touch Up system including obstacle detection is only deactivated when the
closing switch is continuously held.
Brose North America's algorithm recognition standards are programmed into
an electronic unit, which is fully integrated into the window regulator motor.
The algorithm is adaptively engineered to adjust to variable voltages,
temperatures and window seal wear.
Brose designed and developed the first anti-trapping system and now has
more than 13 years of experience in series production. The company holds
approximately 75 percent of the European anti-trapping window regulator
market, and has sold more than 80 million One-Touch Up electronic systems to
customers in Europe, Asia and South America. Jan Kowal, President of Brose
North America, stated: "We are enthusiastic about the North American market's
positive response to implementation of the One-Touch Up system."
