Arctic Cat ATV Agreement With Massey Ferguson Begins With Distribution in the United Kingdom

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn.--Sept. 14, 2000--Snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) maker Arctic Cat Inc. today announced it will manufacture five utility-class ATV models for distribution in select European agricultural markets under the Massey Ferguson(R)brand name. Massey Ferguson has the world's largest distribution network for agricultural equipment.
The two- and four-wheel drive ATVs will be immediately available through Massey Ferguson dealerships in the United Kingdom. Arctic Cat and Massey Ferguson parent company AGCO Corporation also plan market evaluations in other European markets, as well as Africa, the Middle East, East Asia and the Pacific Rim. AGCO-U.K. will not distribute Massey Ferguson-branded ATVs in North America.
"Arctic Cat best-in-class utility ATVs are ideally suited for the international market because the majority of the ATVs sold outside of North America are used primarily for agricultural purposes," said Arctic Cat President and CEO Chris Twomey. "The agreement with Massey Ferguson solidifies the Arctic Cat reputation for ruggedness, reliability and performance."
Massey Ferguson, which manufactures the number one selling brand of farm tractor worldwide, selected Arctic Cat as its agricultural ATV supplier following two years of extensive testing and review among competitive machines. "With many features superior to other makes, including ground clearance, suspension travel, braking performance and load and towing capacity," Massey Ferguson noted in its product announcement, "the ATVs are ideally suited to demanding work on rugged terrain found on many farms in United Kingdom markets."
Twomey did not disclose unit volumes associated with the agreement. He said the relationship with a leading, well-established agricultural brand like Massey Ferguson provides entry to important international markets "by leveraging a distribution system that sets farming industry standards for excellence in equipment sales and marketing, parts, service and technical support."

Arctic Cat Inc. designs, engineers, manufactures and markets snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) under the Arctic Cat(R) brand name, as well as related parts, garments and accessories. For more information, please visit Arctic Cat's Web site at www.arctic-cat.com.
