Durr Partnering with GM to Install A New Paint Shop Facility

Durr Industries, Inc. Partnering with General Motors Corporation to Install A New Truck Paint Shop Facility at the GM Oklahoma City Assembly Plant
    PLYMOUTH, Mich., Sept. 14 Durr Industries, Inc. is
partnering with General Motors Corporation to install one of the most
technologically-advanced paint shops built in the United States.  The new
paint shop facility for light duty trucks and sport utility vehicles at the GM
Oklahoma City Assembly Plant will use the latest painting technology and
automation in the automobile industry.  The new multi-story facility will be
ready for production in early 2002.
    The provisions for this order include engineering, manufacturing and
construction for the complete 880,000 square foot building, paint shop process
equipment, conveyor systems and the air exhaust abatement equipment.  The
complete paint shop will cost $277 million.

    Highlights:
    Implementing a unique partnering approach -- GM and Durr have instituted a
partnership program focused on capital cost savings while enhancing process
value and efficiency.
    The program will feature a full line of Durr supplied products -- The new
paint shop supplied by Durr Industries, Inc., Plymouth, Mich., includes the
entire process equipment line, which extends from the pretreatment system to
the topcoat lines.  Acco Systems, Inc., Warren, Mich., will furnish the entire
line of conveyor systems including the horizontal pendulum, inverted monorail
conveyor (IMC) and paint shop skid systems.  Durr Environmental, Wixom, Mich.,
will provide the air abatement equipment, and Behr Systems, Auburn Hills,
Mich., will supply both the Primer Surfacer powder bells and the Clearcoat
bells painting automation.
