"They have taken the clinics seriously, but have had fun learning the fundamentals at the same time." More than 35 children have been introduced to the sport of tennis this summer as a result of clinics held in Farmington, Pontiac and Clinton Township, Michigan. Each clinic participant has received a tennis racquet, balls, T-shirt, refreshments, gifts and free tennis lessons. The Tennis Moguls is a three-year program that provides free summer tennis clinics and more than 1,400 hours of personal lessons to children participating in Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs. It also includes construction by Federal-Mogul of a community tennis court at MacArthur Elementary School in Southfield, Michigan. The hope is that these clinics will give children in need exposure to tennis and the benefits of tennis -- the sport's family orientation, low-cost and its potential role in enhancing personal fitness and self-esteem. This program is the latest demonstration of Federal-Mogul's commitment to the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. The company has helped raise more than $1 million for the organization since 1997; in addition, employees at the Federal-Mogul World Headquarters in Southfield have provided at least 10,000 hours of volunteer time each year over the same period.
