PPG To Acquire Glass Software Company
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 12 PPG Industries, Inc.
announced plans to grow its aftermarket service offering by integrating the
systems of GlasPac Total Solutions (GTS), the market leader among companies
that produce desktop business management software for the auto glass
replacement industry.
PPG will tap GTS's high tech expertise to build an electronic network of
services that is unmatched in the auto replacement glass industry.
The Portland, OR based company, to be named GTS Services, LLC, has
installed its application in more than 3,200 glass installation and
replacement shops in the United States and Canada.
"Offering e-business services will help installers capitalize on new
technology without making huge capital investments," said Dan Czekalski, newly
appointed vice president of sales and marketing for GTS Services.
Ultimately, GTS Services will enable installers to have access to many
services to run their businesses more efficiently and deliver a higher level
of customer satisfaction.
"GTS Services will build upon and expand the most successful business
management system in this industry," said Jim Latch, general manager of LYNX
Services from PPG, the leading administrator for auto glass claims in the
insurance industry. "We see GTS Services as a leader, and the first business
management systems that we will interface with to deliver faster electronic
job assignments and to process auto glass claims quicker."
"We envision these expanded services to include on-line claims processing,
glass ordering, and electronic payment," said Tom Molenda, LYNX Services
manager of new product development.
