Peregrine Systems Unveils Portal for Auto and Heavy Manufacturing

13 September 2000

Peregrine Systems(R) Unveils Portal for Automotive and Heavy Manufacturing; Get2Factory.com(SM) Expands Scope of Industry e-Trading for Small Suppliers
    DETROIT, Auto-Tech 2000, Booth #620, Sept. 12 Peregrine
Systems, Inc. , the leading provider of Infrastructure
Management software and e-Infrastructure solutions, announced today at
Auto-Tech 2000, the industry's premier automotive manufacturing technology
forum in Detroit, the launch of Get2Factory.com -- its automotive and heavy
manufacturing portal for the procurement of direct and indirect goods.
Get2factory.com's broad-ranging catalog and e-trading capabilities will
immediately be available to 350 Tier One automotive hubs, with plans to take
the portal to market to 5,000 more suppliers and manufacturers by year end. As
thousands of small to medium-sized suppliers struggle to access multiple
portals within their industry, Peregrine's Get2Factory.com is the first
automotive and heavy manufacturing e-Commerce portal to support both new (XML,
BizTalk, RosettaNet, etc.) and existing (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, etc.) technologies
and to provide a true one-to-many gateway to existing and emerging public and
private trading exchanges.
"Our direct connectivity to the Automotive Network eXchange (ANX) and to
all other industry portals and exchanges will provide Get2Factory.com
customers with true one-to-many e-trading capability," said Dan Longton,
Peregrine senior director of Automotive Solutions. "The goal is simple. We're
taking users to the next level of e-Business by providing them with a scalable
solution for their businesses that won't become dated as technology and
trading exchange requirements evolve."
The automotive industry was an early adopter of e-Commerce technology and
among the first to announce the emergence of multiple trade exchanges and
portals. Peregrine plans to partner with automotive manufacturers, enterprise
resource planning (ERP) vendors and technology providers to offer an industry
solution that enables thousands of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs),
suppliers and distributors to access a single-point-of-entry for the
procurement of goods and services over the Internet. Get2Factory.com
streamlines the procurement and asset management process with buyer-specific
catalogs and pricing, online auctions and purchasing, shipping and receiving,
invoicing and payment, all in real time, regardless of varying industry and
technology requirements. Also available on the Get2Factory.com portal is
AutoChain Online(SM), a program created by Peregrine under the direction of
the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) that provides users with direct
access to Peregrine's supplier enablement and business community
implementation services.
"Empowered buyers make better buying decisions," said Henry Danzinger, CIO
at Collins & Aikman, a Tier One automotive hub supplier. "And with an entire
community of suppliers just a click away, buyers have better visibility and
are empowered to make sound business decisions. Peregrine is offering a
cost-effective solution that benefits both large and small suppliers and
manufacturers."
Separately, Peregrine announced a partnership agreement with J.S. Wurzler
Underwriting Managers, Inc., to provide Get2Factory.com users with financial
protection against computer viruses and security breaches. "Get2Factory.com
has taken a proactive course in integrating our Web site Insurance & Security
Program (WiSP(R)), that offers meaningful financial protection against virus
attacks and security breaches," noted John Wurzler, CEO and founder of J.S.
Wurzler Underwriting Managers, Inc.
