Automotive Industry Action Group to Transfer AutoChain Online(TM) To Peregrine Systems E-Business Connectivity Group

Automotive Industry Action Group to Transfer AutoChain Online(TM) To Peregrine Systems E-Business Connectivity Group
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Sept. 11 To help better facilitate
increased service offerings for automotive industry subscribers, the
Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) announced today that it has agreed to
transfer its AutoChain Online(TM) service mark and registration to Peregrine
Systems e-Business Connectivity Group. The AutoChain Online program was
originally developed by Peregrine under AIAG's direction in 1998.
"The development of AutoChain Online was one of many initiatives being
worked on at AIAG to support implementation of EDI through supply chains,"
said Kenneth W. Godzina, AIAG executive director. "AIAG has fulfilled its
role of having the automotive industry come together to direct the development
of this unique program. AIAG thought the timing was now right to transfer the
AutoChain Online program to Peregrine to continue to handle the operations,
and to further develop and expand the capabilities of this service for
industry participants. Peregrine will now be solely responsible for future
direction of AutoChain Online."
Through a centralized database application -- accessible via the Internet
to subscribers -- AutoChain Online is a standardized method of tracking supply
chain e-commerce compliance. The program benefits all participants in the
automotive supply chain, suppliers and OEMs, allowing companies to track e-
commerce readiness of their suppliers; streamline the communication process
for e-commerce implementation; and measure results through on-line reporting.
Peregrine has added several new features to the AutoChain Online program,
including ANX eBusiness connectivity tracking -- which enables suppliers to
track trading partners that are connected to the ANX -- and a new bar coding
survey feature that enables subscribing suppliers to communicate their
company's bar code scanning capabilities throughout their supply chain. The
bar code scanning feature includes tracking of progress on bar code scanning
software used, label guidelines supported, bar coding integration with
internal systems, and printing capabilities.
"We have been involved with the AutoChain Online service since its
inception and we recognize the value e-commerce readiness tracking brings to
the auto industry," said Dan Longton, senior director of automotive solutions
at Peregrine Systems. "We now have more than 1,600 companies representing
over 5,400 production plant locations as subscribers to the AutoChain Online
service and we're happy that it's become a widely used application for
connecting buyers and suppliers to track e-commerce compliance."
The transition of AutoChain Online to Peregrine will be transparent to
current subscribers. For more information on AutoChain Online, go to
