Larger, Overall Travel Category-
Alamo.com, the Web site for Alamo Rent A Car, a division of ANC Rental Corporation , has been named the Internet's number one car rental company Web site by Forrester Research, Inc. Forrester also ranked the Alamo site number six in the larger, overall "Travel" category, which includes dot.coms as well as airlines, hotels, cruise lines and other car rental companies.
Forrester Research, Inc., a leading independent research firm that analyzes the future of technology change and its impact on businesses, consumers, and society, recently released its annual list of the top 60 travel Web sites. More than 100 travel sites were considered and 60 were actually ranked in this year's scoring. This year's ranking marks a significant improvement for the Alamo Web site compared with its ranking of number 22 in 1999.
Forrester Research ratings are objective and reflect actual consumer behavior. The scores, based on a combined total of 9,524 American and Canadian households, are calculated by considering the percentage of consumers who researched travel on the site, the percentage of consumers who actually book reservations on the site, and the estimated amount of revenue each visitor to the site spends on travel yearly.
Alamo.com is the only car rental Web site that allows customers to comparison shop viewing photos of the actual car types available at their destination, passenger and luggage capacity of each car type and the prices of all available vehicles on one screen.
"We are extremely proud that Alamo's Web site was rated the top car rental company site by Forrester and even happier with our number six rating in the overall travel category by Forrester Research," said Karen Beard, president Alamo and National in North America. "We want to make it easy and convenient for customers to rent a car from Alamo. Receiving this kind of recognition in the highly competitive and rapidly growing e-commerce channel is validation of our efforts."
"The Alamo Web site is entirely customer driven," continued Beard. "Our goal was to create an easy-to-use Web site that responds to the specific on-line needs of leisure travelers, who are Alamo's primary target audience. We have a long-term commitment to continually improve the ease and functionality of all our Internet sites for all our customers," she said.
Alamo has also been rated as the number one car rental Web site in terms of customer Ease-of-Use by Gomez.com's Internet Car Rental Scorecard(tm).
