Thomas Andersson Appointed Executive Vice-President of Marketing for Volvo Cars of North America
ROCKLEIGH, N.J., Sept. 7 Thomas Andersson has been
appointed as Executive Vice President of Marketing for Volvo Cars of North
America, Inc. effective October 1. He succeeds Mark LaNeve who took over the
post of President and CEO of Volvo's North American operations in July.
Bringing with him a wealth of international experience gained from ten
years with the Volvo Car Corporation based in countries including Spain,
Sweden, Germany and Argentina, Mr Andersson will join Volvo's North American
management team and oversee the recently re-structured Marketing operation
which now includes Marketing Communications and Product Marketing, CRM and
E-Commerce Development.
"North America, Volvo's largest market, has been experiencing considerable
growth and I am delighted to be joining the management team at such an
exciting time", comments Mr Andersson.
As a member of Volvo's European Executive Management team for the past two
years, Mr Andersson was in charge of the company's presence in eastern and
central European markets, presiding over a significant volume, market share
and profitability increase, whilst also helping to pilot a radical new
approach to car retailing in these growing Volvo markets.
Previously, Mr Andersson had helped to start up a Volvo sales company in
Argentina in 1995 and 1996 before becoming President of Volvo Sudamericana and
implementing a re-organization of Volvo car distribution in the area,
culminating in the presentation of a Diamond Award for best importer
performance in 1997.
"Thomas' vast range of international experience and obvious flair for
marketing will make him a valuable addition to our management team here in
North America," comments Mark LaNeve. "He joins us at a time when we are
posting record sales figures for the brand in North America and introducing a
range of exciting new products. I am confident that Thomas will help us
maximize these opportunities."
Graduating from the Polhem Gymnasium in 1985 with a degree in social
sciences, Mr Andersson gained a Master's degree in Marketing from the
Gothenburg Business School in 1991.
Mr Andersson, a Swedish national, is aged 34 and married to Lovisa. The
couple have a son Axel, aged 18 months.
