Dura Automotive Estimates Impact of Production CutsROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Sept. 7 Dura Automotive Systems, Inc. , today announced that it expects earnings to be negatively impacted by continued weakness in the recreational vehicle market down approximately 15 percent, production cuts related to the Firestone tire recall on the Ford Explorer and Ranger vehicles, and declines in the European currencies versus the U.S. dollar, where Dura has approximately 30 percent of its business. These items are expected to reduce third-quarter 2000 earnings per share by approximately 23 percent from the original consensus estimate of $0.75 per share and fourth-quarter earnings per share by approximately 10 percent from the original consensus estimate of $1.25 per share. Dura Automotive believes that there is limited potential for recovery of the recreational vehicle market and European currencies stretching into 2001. Nonetheless, given new business growth and productivity initiatives, Dura Automotive believes its earnings per share growth will continue to be in excess of 10 percent in 2001.
