DaimlerChrysler to Conduct Review of Advertising Agencies
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 6 DaimlerChrysler Corporation
has announced that it will review its advertising agency business
relationships beginning this month, as part of the company's long-standing
commitment to process redesign.
The Company's worldwide Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Corporate brand advertising
is currently handled by FCB Worldwide, a subsidiary of True North
Communications. BBDO Worldwide, a unit of Omnicom Group, Inc., services the
Company's Dodge brand advertising.
"This is all about efficiencies, not about creative product or
capability," said Arthur C. (Bud) Liebler, Senior Vice President -- Chrysler
Group Marketing. "We are in ongoing discussions with our major agency
partners to determine additional ways to drive costs out of our system. We
are undecided at this early stage what that final structure will be, but it
could ultimately lead to one primary agency for all Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep
brand and corporate advertising."
Liebler added that agencies that support minority and customer
relationship marketing are not affected by the review, although some of those
companies are linked to the two major agencies. Those agencies are Don
Coleman Advertising, Inc., Montemayor Y Associates, Inc. and InterOne
Marketing Group.
While no deadline has been established, it is expected that a decision on
the new agency structure will come in the 4th Quarter, Liebler said.
