Baby Grands, first put on the market in 1996 by founders Tom and Linda Cravens, are 2/3 scale replicas of the Winston Cup Stock Cars. They feature the new Yamaha XJR1300 engine which produces 120-125 hp. Each car weighs approximately 1,250 lbs., can achieve speeds exceeding 140 mph, and is equipped with many of the same safety features as full-sized stock cars. Baby Grands can be hauled on a small trailer behind the family car or small pickup.
The popularity of Baby Grand Racing has grown fast. "Our first season of racing was held in Region A (Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas) with a total of 23 events and the Baby Grand Stockcar was approved by the SCCA," says Tom Craven, Director and Founder.
