Clarity Announces Consumer Electronics Deal

    TROY, Mich.--Sept. 6, 2000--Clarity LLC (http://www.clarityco.com/), which has developed breakthrough technology in the extraction and purification of voice and the elimination of background noise, confirmed today that it had contracted with one of the nation's leading industrial design firms to provide its novel signal processing software for a consumer electronics company.
    Terms of the agreement were not disclosed nor were the name of either the design firm and its client because of "competitive" reasons.
    Commenting on the transaction, Raymond Gunn, president and chief executive officer of Clarity, would only say that, "since this is our first consumer electronics contract and it is an important showcase for us, we chose an application and a relationship that would demonstrate the robustness of our technology and in its best light."
    Since the introduction of Clarity's Clear Voice Capture (CVC(TM)) in May, Mr. Gunn continued, "we have been besieged with requests from over 100 of the world's leading corporate names in telecommunications, transportation, medical devices, computer and audio technology for demonstrations and application discussions."
    In a recent presentation at a conference sponsored by IEEE and Michigan State University, the Company presented show-stopping test results of "real world" performance of Clarity's CVC enabling software technology for voice interface applications, focused in particular on hands-free cellular communications in automobiles.
    In all instances tested to date, the application of Clarity's Clear Voice Capture software provides measurable benefits in voice intelligibility and speech recognition results while enhancing the productivity of telecommunications systems.
    According to Mr. Gunn, "Clarity's objective is to be a leading provider of software products that significantly improves the quality and efficiency of voice activated human-machine interfaces. Our intent is to enter into co-development alliances and licensing arrangements with Original Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers in multiple industries, including: semiconductor manufacturers and telecommunication operators worldwide."
