Parts.com Establishes Quality Services Division; Lamar Barnett Appointed Division Director
SANFORD, Fla.--Sept. 5, 2000--Parts.com, Inc. (stock symbol: MIRM), a marketplace and software solutions provider for the automotive parts industry which recently unveiled its TradeMotion Solutions(TM), announced the appointment of Lamar Barnett as director of its newly formed Quality Services Division."The introduction of a company-wide quality improvement initiative is essential to the continued growth and success of parts.com," stated Shawn D. Lucas, President and Co-CEO. "In his new role, Lamar will ensure that the software and services we provide for our customers will continue to improve in quality and reliability. As parts.com's revenue growth continues, it is important to automate as many internal business processes, to maximize our gross margins."
This move is the key component of a quality assurance program that will implement changes to meet the Capability Maturity Model for software (SW-CMM), which is defined by process definition and improvement, and organizational development. "Mr. Barnett has demonstrated his expertise in these areas. He oversaw the Quality Control of TradeMotion, and has the background in software development and quality systems to lead the company in this initiative," stated Mr. Lucas.
Mr. Barnett joined parts.com in March of this year from HTE, Inc. of Lake Mary, Florida, where he was responsible for company-wide quality improvements and Y2K readiness. Under Barnett's quality service direction, HTE grew from approximately 250 employees to nearly 1,000 in three years. "Risk management is a cornerstone concept that runs hand-in-hand with successful growth. Organizational growth presents a complex set of challenges that demand a tight focus on corporate alignment with quality goals," said Barnett.
Mr. Barnett holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma and has more than fifteen years of software production and organizational development experience. He is a member of the American Society for Quality and has training as an ISO 9000 Lead Auditor.
