5 September 2000

Lexus to Offer 'Lexus Link' Emergency and Concierge Service in New LS 430
TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 5 Lexus' new flagship sedan, the
LS 430, will feature world-class luxury, outstanding performance and the
latest technology, including Lexus Link, an emergency and concierge service
that will provide substantial measures of safety, security and information
services.
At the touch of a button, or if an airbag deploys, Lexus Link combines
Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) and cellular phone technology to connect
the customer with experienced and trained Lexus Link advisors at anytime, day
or night, 365 days a year. This is the first time Lexus has offered such a
system and will be partnering with OnStar. Specially trained advisors will be
housed at OnStar's state-of-the-art call centers.
With the purchase of the Lexus Link option, a year's subscription to the
service is included. This service will include automatic notification if an
airbag deploys, if there is a sudden loss of vehicle battery power (such as in
an accident) or if there is an airbag system failure. Lexus Link advisors can
contact emergency service or roadside assistance providers, offer accident
assist information services, provide theft notification and stolen vehicle
tracking, and lock or unlock doors remotely.
The available premium services plan enhances customer productivity and
convenience. Information and assistance services will include route support,
ride assist (taxi request), information/convenience services and concierge
services.
"Lexus customers deserve and expect to have the latest safety and
convenience features incorporated into the LS 430," said Denny Clements, Lexus
group vice president and general manager. "By working with OnStar, Lexus is
showing that we will use the best technology and capability available from
around the globe to satisfy our customers' needs."
"OnStar is very pleased to have developed a relationship with Lexus -- a
relationship that further validates the OnStar brand as the industry leader in
the area of in-vehicle communications and services," said Chet Huber,
president of OnStar.
