Markus Werner Named President & COO of SaarGummi Americas
ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Sept. 5, 2000--Markus Werner has been named president and chief operating officer of SaarGummi Americas, a Tier One supplier of automotive sealing systems.The company was formed by the recent acquisition of Thona by SaarGummi, headquartered in Wadern-Bueschfeld, Germany.
Werner, 32, was previously a project manager for Roland Berger & Partners GmbH. Through this international management consultant firm based in Berlin/Stuttgart, Germany, he had worked with SaarGummi since 1998. He recently coordinated a joint venture of SaarGummi and Thona to establish a manufacturing plant in Tennessee.
Werner holds a Master of Engineering degree from RWTH-Aachen, and a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Technical University of Braunschweig.
SaarGummi Americas, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, will be responsible for sales, development, and project management throughout North and South America.
The global SaarGummi group employs 2,800 people and has annual sales of $250-million, 80% of which are in automotive sealing systems. SaarGummi has manufacturing plants in Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Brazil and India. The company was founded in Germany in 1947, as a manufacturer of automotive sealing systems and construction products.
It is a subsidiary of Saarberg AG, which is part of the $13-billion RAG Group.
