    ROCKY HILL, Conn.--BUSINESS WIRE--Sept 5, 2000--

    Dr. Thomas Maloney has joined the company as Business Development Manager focusing on energy markets. Dr. Maloney brings to Proton nearly 15 years experience in regenerative fuel cell systems development for commercial, aerospace, and military applications. After prior experience at Eltech Systems and assignment at Argonne National Laboratory, Tom spent most of his career as a contractor to the NASA Glenn Research Center, having managed their contracted Power Systems Group for the past nine years. Tom has also provided consulting services to U.S. and international companies over the past three years in the area of regenerative fuel cells. Proton is working to commercialize regenerative fuel cells for a variety of power backup and uninterruptible power applications.
    Fred Mitlitsky has joined the company as Director of Advanced Engineering. Fred joined Proton after 18 years with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) where he was a senior scientist and program manager. Fred's recent projects focused on regenerative fuel cell systems and lightweight tankage for energy storage and propulsion. His recent innovations are enabling to a wide range of applications, including zero emission vehicles, portable power supplies, stationary energy storage, spacecraft and high altitude long endurance solar rechargeable aircraft. Fred was the LLNL program manager for lightweight hydrogen tankage, which recently set a world record by demonstrating high cycle life tankage with 11.3% hydrogen by weight for automotive applications. Fred has authored 50 publications and presentations related to regenerative fuel cells and lightweight hydrogen energy storage.
