SuperDrive System Provides Dramatic Fuel Savings for Long-Haul Truckers
PIQUA, Ohio--Sept. 5, 2000--Skyrocketing fuel costs in the trucking industry could be a thing of the past with the implementation of SuperDrive, an advanced new transmission technology. The SuperDrive system uses a variable hydraulic motor and pump to maintain engines at constant speeds over varying terrain--with little or no increase in engine RPM. The results are a significant boost in fuel efficiency, easier braking through motor hydraulics and a reduction in engine wear.
The patented process has been extensively tested in prototype vehicles as well as subjected to rigorous examination at West Virginia University, with indications that fuel reductions of up to 25% can be expected. A full road-test phase of 12 vehicles over a million-mile distance is in negotiation with a national leasing company.
The system offers additional industry (and environmental) advantages:
-- | SuperDrive vehicle drivers wouldn't need the extensive training required of standard transmission trucks |
-- | The SuperDrive vehicle is easier, quieter, less stressful and less dangerous to drive |
-- | The SuperDrive vehicle will produce fewer exhaust emissions than conventional trucks |
As summed up by Ray Fleming, Director of SuperDrive: "SuperDrive provides the ease of operation of an automatic transmission, with better fuel economy than either standard or automatic transmissions."
The initial SuperDrive facility will serve the Ohio/Eastern Indiana region, retrofitting existing truck fleets with the SuperDrive mechanism. The SuperDrive transmission can work in concert with standard transmissions, which can be utilized for pulling trucks up steep grades or at loading docks. SuperDrive, Inc. will offer free training in the use of the system with installation. Plans for additional plants for both the retrofits and new vehicle installations are drawn up.
