Tracks: Rich Ricci Jr, George Marcus claim Lebanon Valley championships

WEST LEBANON, NY- Persistent rain showers early in the Gable Auto Stores, GMAC Financial Services, J.D. Handling program Saturday night forced Lebanon Valley to cancel the night's action. The evening started off well as the modifieds ran time trials to help determine the starting lineup. J.R. Heffner was the fastest qualifier of the night. The rains came midway through the Pure Stock "C" feature and never stopped. Rich Ricci Jr, in his first year driving for Jody Gable took home the championship in the modified division for the first time in his career. Kenny Tremont finished second fifteen points behind Ricci. Donnie Corellis will end the season in the third place followed by Chris Moore in fourth and John Hewitt in fifth. George Marcus is the 2000 champion in the sportsman division. Art Collins made a late season charge but will come up seven-points short. Sparkly Lowe will finish third in the overall standings followed by Bobby Knipe and Hawley Smith. The points in the street stock, rookie street stock and pure stock division will end on September 16th. Lebanon Valley will now start getting ready for the CARQUEST KINGS 200 Weekend next week. Two full days of racing will hit the high banks next Saturday and Sunday. The 358-modifieds will highlight the card on Saturday night for the 100-lap Race of Kings. The modified division takes center stage on Sunday for the CARQUEST National 200. Two more events after the big weekend will cap off the 2000 season. SPEEDS GARAGE & DICKS AUTOMOTIVE will sponsor the action on Saturday night, September 16. A $1,000 to win cannonball run will highlight the racing card. Rookies, Street and Pure Stocks will also be on the schedule.
