Isuzu Reports August SUV Sales

         Rodeo on Record Setting Year to Date Trend; Trooper up 18%,
                        Amigo up 20%, VehiCROSS up 15%

    CERRITOS, Calif., Sept. 1 American Isuzu Motors Inc.
(AIMI) today reported an increase of seven percent in sales of Isuzu SUVs for
this year compared to last.
    Trooper, AIMI's flagship SUV and luxury segment leader is proving that
customers still value real SUV performance, durability and traditional
styling.  Trooper sales for the year as of the end of August rose 18 percent,
as compared to the same period a year ago.  Of the 13,802 Troopers sold
through the end of August 2000, the rear-drive 2WD version generated over
one-third of those sales.
    The Isuzu Rodeo, AIMI's best selling SUV represents the finest value in
the four-door compact SUV segment.  Rodeo's year-to-date sales are beating the
record levels set in 1999, with 40,918 sold.
    Amigo, the big-little sport-ute with a go-anywhere attitude posted a
strong gain for the year of 20 percent over the previous year.  The rugged yet
sporty Amigo is the most powerful SUV in its class.
    The high performance Isuzu VehiCROSS, continues to engrave its mark on the
SUV world.  At the close of August VehiCROSS sales increased 15 percent over
its introductory-year-to-date sales.
    "Concerns over interest rates, fuel prices and traditional summer vacation
periods have checked overall demand," said Buck Trawick, Vice President, SUV
sales.  "In spite of the difficult market, we are pleased with our performance
and looking forward to the approach of the traditionally strong fall selling
season.  We're confident that the industry's longest warranty, our
10 year/120,000 Powertrain Limited Warranty, will continue to furnish value
and quality conscious SUV buyers a powerful reason for buying an Isuzu SUV."
