American Suzuki Posts Highest August Sales in 12 Years; Grand Vitara Scores Best Sales Month EverBREA, Calif., Sept. 1 American Suzuki Motor Corporation marked its highest August sales in 12 years, selling 6,280 vehicles for the month, a 29-percent sales increase over August 1999. The Grand Vitara posted its best sales month since its August 1998 launch with 3,663 sales, a 24-percent increase over sales for the same period last year. The fuel-efficient Esteem Sedan and Wagon continued to be popular with value-savy consumers, notching 1,612 sales in August, a 100-percent increase over 1999 sales. "The high demand for Suzuki's value-packed vehicle line has driven sales to levels not seen in 12 years," said Gary Anderson, American Suzuki vice president of sales. "High-line changes including leather interior and sun-roofs in our 2001 Grand Vitaras have been well received by our dealers and will help us build on our increasing sales."
