Nissan Division Reports August Sales Figures; - Sentra and Xterra Sales Continue Momentum -

    CARSON, Calif., Sept. 1 Sentra's seventh consecutive month
of increased sales of 13,562 units supported the Nissan Division of Nissan
North America, Inc. (NNA) August sales of 62,612 units.
    Xterra achieved an August sales record hitting 7,898 units, an increase of
16.7 percent over last year.  Strong Quest sales also boosted the division's
performance with 4,573 units, an increase of 24.9 percent versus last year.
    Combined sales in August for Nissan and Infiniti divisions totaled 70,096
units, a 2.7 percent increase versus last year.

    Other sales highlights include:
    -- Altima sales of 10,518 units.
    -- Maxima sales were 10,763 units.
    -- Frontier sales of 9,367 units.
    -- Pathfinder sales were 5,926.
    -- Through August of this year, Nissan Division sales totaled 460,965
       units versus 401,868 during the same period last year, up 14.1 percent.
    -- Combined Nissan and Infiniti sales for the first eight months of 2000
       totaled 516,340 units versus 446,420 for the same time last year -- an
       increase of 15.1 percent.
