    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Sept. 1 Michael Verwilst, senior vice
president, Powertrain Systems - Americas, announces the appointment of Robert
Claycomb to vice president, Operations, Bearings, Camshafts, Connecting Rods
and Sintered products, Powertrain Systems - Americas, effective immediately.
He will report directly to Verwilst.

    Claycomb will be responsible for bearings, bushing and washers
manufactured in Blacksburg, Virginia, McConnelsville, Ohio, Puebla, Mexico,
Greenville, Michigan and St. Johns, Michigan; camshaft manufacturing
facilities in Grand Haven, Michigan, Jackson, Michigan, Orland, Indiana and
Saltillo, Mexico; connecting rods manufactured and machined in Windsor,
Ontario, Canada; and sintered products manufactured in Dayton, Ohio, Marshall,
Illinois and Waupan, Wisconsin.
    "The alignment of these operations under Bob will enhance our ability to
focus on our growth opportunities, operational execution, and customer
service," said Verwilst.  "His experience in operations management will
provide the leadership necessary for success."
    Previous to his new assignment, he was the operations manager of Engine
Bearings and Sintered Products.  In 1999, Claycomb was appointed operations
manager, Engine Bearings, Powertrain Systems - America.  He joined Federal-
Mogul in 1982 as a plant manager at the St. Johns, Michigan facility.
    Claycomb earned a master of business administration degree in management
science from Indiana Northern University and a bachelor of science degree in
mechanical engineering form Western Michigan University.
