Hyundai Continues Strong Sales Pace; August Sales Up 32% Over Last YearFOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 1 Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 23,583 vehicles for the month of August, up 32 percent from one year ago. "With our sales in August, Hyundai has now surpassed our total vehicle sales for calendar year 1999. Hyundai sales are up 60 percent on a year-to-date basis. We are definitely on track to exceed our goal of 220,000 units sold in 2000," said Robert Cosmai, vice-president of sales for Hyundai Motor America. "Elantra continues to be the volume leader for Hyundai with sales of 11,491 units in August. That is the best sales month for Elantra in the history of Hyundai. Elantra sales year-to-date are up 51 percent over last year," Cosmai said. "Our flagship Sonata sedan also set an all-time sales record with sales of 5,643 units, up 90 percent from last year. "The Hyundai product line is nearly all-new and all our vehicles are backed with The Hyundai Advantage, America's Best Warranty which includes our 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty," Cosmai added. "In addition, our dealers are really focused on the franchise and their enthusiasm for the brand is paying off with increased sales."
