Hayes Lemmerz International Appoints Vice President of Operations

    NORTHVILLE, Mich., Sept. 1 Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , a leading global supplier to the automotive and commercial
highway industry, today announced the appointment of Jesus Bonilla-Valdez to
the position of Vice President, Operations of its North American Cast Wheels
business unit.  Mr. Bonilla-Valdez will have complete responsibility for plant
operations and materials at Hayes Lemmerz' six cast wheel facilities in North
America and will report directly to Ronald Kolakowski, President of Hayes
Lemmerz North American Wheel Group.
    Prior to accepting this assignment, Mr. Bonilla-Valdez was Plant Manager
for Hayes Lemmerz North American Cast Wheels facility in La Mirada,
California.
    Before joining Hayes Lemmerz in 1997, Mr. Bonila-Valdez was Operations
Manager at Grayson Controls located in Mexicali, Mexico, the General Manager
for Handy & Harmon Corporation in Laredo, Texas, and served as a major in the
U.S. Air Force.
    Commenting on the appointment, Ronald Kolakowski said, "Jesus brings with
him a wealth of experience and technical expertise.  He makes a great addition
to Hayes Lemmerz' management team, and will contribute to the continued growth
of our company."
    Mr. Bonilla-Valdez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business
Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate
University; a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from Troy State
University; and a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instructional
Leadership from the National University.  He also received a post-graduate
diploma from CETTYS, in Mexicali, Mexico in World Class Manufacturing, Just-
in-Time, and TQM.
    Mr. Bonilla-Valdez, his wife and two children will relocate to the
Northville, Michigan area.
