Audi Records Best All-Time August in Company History

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 1 Today, Audi of America, Inc.
announced its best ever sales of 7,326 automobiles for August, with a 10.7
percent increase over the same month last year when sales were 6,617.  These
results total the best year-to-date ever with sales of 54,245, a 32.8 percent
increase over the same period last year when sales were 40,834.
    Audi's all-aluminum flagship A8 enjoyed double-digit growth with sales of
240 for the month, a 14.3 percent increase over last August sales of 210.  The
A6 sedan and Avant sales increased 6.6 percent with 2,902 units sold versus
August 1999 sales of 2,723.  The A4 model line was up 4.6 percent with sales
of 3,221, compared to 3,080 last year.
    Audi TT sales continue to soar with 963 sold in August versus 604 units
sold last year, representing a 59.4 percent increase.
