HD America and PartsRiver Lay Foundation for Trucking Industry e-Commerce; Next-Generation Sourcing Solution Will Serve Needs of Leading North American Parts Distributors

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--Aug. 31, 2000--PartsRiver, Inc., the leading provider of e-commerce and catalog solutions for the industrial equipment marketplace, will assist HD America, the premier heavy-duty truck parts marketing group, in developing a complete Internet-based parts sourcing solution in order to further enhance their HDATA system, the companies announced today.
Under the terms of the letter of intent, PartsRiver will supply HD America with its e.Xact(TM) intelligent catalog software, coupled with the largest web-enabled database of fully-related and cross-referenced parts content, over a transaction-enabled, private HD America hub. This complete procurement system will enable HD America members and their customers to find detailed product information, as well as see online, real-time inventory, pricing, and shipping information on one HDA-branded web site, eliminating time-consuming phone calls to multiple warehouse distributors. Because e.Xpand integrates seamlessly with the distributors' ERP systems, buyers place automated orders that print directly as packing slips in the distributors' warehouse for immediate shipment.
"PartsRiver's team has long experience in the industrial parts business, so the tools they've developed are custom-tailored to meet our needs," said Pat Biermann, HD America's President. "Using only a partial description, the generic name of the assembly, or just a picture, e.Xact leads our customers to the right part or assembly. Substitute part identification, cross-referencing, automatic parts assembly based on application, and compatibility are other unique and extremely valuable features. PartsRiver is enabling our members to set the pace for the rest of the heavy-duty truck parts industry."
"We're excited to be able to work with HD America to provide a state-of-the art parts sourcing and selling solution for their members," said Steve de Laet, PartsRiver's CEO. "We're confident that our combination of catalog, content and e-commerce tools will provide powerful solutions for other industrial sectors, such as the agriculture, marine, heavy equipment and construction industries."
PartsRiver is the global technology partner for the fragmented $400 billion industrial equipment market, focusing on industrial MRO and secondary OEM components used in the trucking, agriculture, marine, heavy equipment and construction industries. PartsRiver's e.Xact(TM) intelligent catalog software and database contain over 7.5 million cross references representing over 800 manufacturers and 500,000 part numbers. Its e.Xpand(TM) private hubs provide individual customers detailed catalog information, real-time inventory, pricing, order status, and the ability to transact among multiple suppliers online.
