Vishay Announces the Acquisition of the Business of Spectrol
    MALVERN, Pa., Aug. 31 Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.
announced today the acquisition of the business of Spectrol.
Spectrol is a manufacturer of sensing transducer-type potentiometers used
primarily in the automotive industry and trimmer potentiometers used in
various electronics circuitry.  Spectrol has annual sales of $22 million.  The
acquisition will be immediately accretive.
    Dr. Zandman, Chairman and CEO of Vishay stated "With this acquisition, we
are gaining new technology with transducer-type potentiometers which will
complement our SFERnice divisions transducer product line enabling them to
penetrate more quickly into the automotive market.  In addition, the trimmer
potentiometer will enable the company to gain a larger market share of the
markets they serve.  We believe that the strength of our worldwide marketing
and sales force will result in a very successful integration of these products
into the market place.
