Williams Controls Subsidiary and Nestor Traffic Systems to Provide Advanced Warning Alert System at Rail CrossingsPORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 31 Williams Controls, Inc. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, GeoFocus, Inc., and Nestor Traffic Systems, Inc., an affiliate of Nestor, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: NEST) have signed a teaming agreement to provide an advanced railroad grade crossing warning system for enhanced rail and traffic safety. Nestor Traffic Systems is an emerging leader in providing innovative, video-based monitoring systems and services for traffic management and safety, and GeoFocus is a rail industry leader in train vehicle location and information management systems. The agreement combines each company's unique products into an innovative rail crossing safety enhancement system called the Advanced Warning Alert for Railroad Engineers (AWARE). The system will utilize Nestor's video image recognition and analysis technology, Rail CrossingGuard, installed at the grade crossing, and GeoFocus' on-train Global Positioning System (GPS) based train information management system, called TrainTrac(R), to detect a wide variety of track obstructions and crossing gate failures and send warnings directly to train operators as they approach the affected crossing. "We are pleased to partner with GeoFocus in the creation of AWARE," stated David Fox, President and CEO of Nestor Traffic Systems. "Combining our video- based vehicle detection and their communications capabilities is a natural fit. Being able to alert an approaching train to a vehicle on the tracks is a monumental advancement in rail crossing safety." "This teaming agreement with Nestor represents an important new initiative for the diversification of our products while capitalizing on our leadership in GPS-based products for the rail and transportation industries," stated Williams Controls Chairman and CEO Thomas W. Itin. "The overlay of the Nestor technology is a natural extension of our TrainTrac product's ability to know where a train is in relationship to grade crossings and to effectively use Nestor's technology to greatly improve the awareness of the train operator and safety of the train in relation to vehicles at the installed crossing. The relationship with Nestor is a marriage of industry product leaders and represents a very strong commitment to rail safety that we believe is a win- win situation for all concerned."
