Delco Remy Earns Excellence Award

    ANDERSON, Ind., Aug. 29 Delco Remy America, a business
unit of Delco Remy International, Inc., has earned an Automotive
Industries magazine's prestigious Quest for Excellence Award as one of the
industry's "Best-of-the-Best" in the Electrical Systems Suppliers category for
the second consecutive year. Tier I suppliers to automobile manufacturers
compete annually for the award's coveted status, which independently measures
performance in terms of customer-defined value issues: quality, price,
delivery, service/response and innovation.
    PriceWaterhouseCoopers' Survey Research Center conducts the annual
customer surveys to rank each of the five criteria on a scale of one to five,
with five indicating outstanding.  1,238 votes were cast for suppliers in
23 different product categories. The results of the survey were double cross
checked before the announcement of winners was released.
    In accepting the award, Delco Remy America President, Richard L. Stanley,
credited employees for the company's success in achieving the industry's high
recognition. "This is a team award that shows what can be accomplished when
people share a customer-focused commitment to quality, value and
responsiveness," said Stanley.
    Automotive Industries magazine is a highly respected, Detroit-based,
industry trade journal (circ. 100,000+) which is dedicated to engineering,
design and manufacturing topics.
