IRVINE, Calif.--Aug. 28, 2000--Caliber Collision Centers, an Irvine, Calif.-based operator of high-quality collision repair facilities in California and Texas, has acquired Chapparone Auto Body, the largest collision repair chain in San Diego County, with eight locations and a ninth location planned to open in early 2001.The addition of Chapparone Auto Body positions Caliber as the largest collision repair provider in California with 26 centers throughout Southern California and further extends Caliber's position as the largest independently operated collision repair organization in the United States with annual revenues exceeding $145 million.
According to Shawn Hezar, senior vice president, client services and operations for Caliber, the nine-center acquisition enables Caliber to immediately begin providing collision repair and claims support services to the company's preferred insurance clients throughout the San Diego marketplace.
"Caliber's expansion into San Diego is a direct response to the needs of our insurance partners and their insureds," Hezar said. "The geographic coverage and scale of this acquisition will provide Caliber with a significant platform to build out the remainder of the San Diego marketplace." Hezar also said Caliber plans to continue acquiring and building high-quality collision repair centers throughout San Diego County to enhance Caliber's service delivery to the insurance community and consumers.
Former owner of Chapparone Body and Paint, Mark Chapparone, will assist in the integration of the business to the Caliber group as well as assist with the opening of additional centers in San Diego County.
"Caliber will provide my employees with the opportunity to help lead the positive change that is taking place in the collision repair industry," Chapparone said. "Over the past three years, I have observed Caliber's execution in Southern California and Texas and have been impressed by the performance of the Caliber centers as well as by Caliber's relationships with its insurance clients and employees. My entire organization is excited about joining the Caliber team to better serve the insurance community and their customers."
