giggo.com Establishes Base for National Operations At Alliance
FORT WORTH, Texas--Aug. 28, 2000--giggo.com, the web's premier online automotive financing and shopping resource, has established "giggo garage," the company's base for national operations, at the 9,600-acre Alliance development in North Texas. A fully dedicated e-business division of DaimlerChrysler Services (debis) AG, giggo.com has leased 30,000 square feet in the recently completed 48,000-square-foot Alliance Gateway 20 building in Fort Worth, Texas from Hillwood."This space not only supports our high-tech needs, but also is the perfect complement to our informal 'Silicon Valley' style culture," said giggo.com CEO Brian Reed. "As we looked for new space for our expanding company, Alliance jumped to the top of the list, mainly because of its great location and its affordability for an Internet start-up. Its fiber-optic infrastructure was especially critical as we need to ensure that our storefront remains open for business 24/7."
The new cost-efficient warehouse space has exposed concrete walls, open ceilings complete with wires and ducts and garage-style doors. The building also contains recreational facilities to help foster teamwork among employees including a basketball court and foosball tables. Founded in 1998, giggo.com employs 80 workers at "giggo garage."
Over the past year, Hillwood has developed approximately 1.1 million square feet at Alliance for companies whose business is primarily related to the Internet and e-commerce. giggo.com's new facility is near some of these companies, including the high-tech Ryder Integrated Logistics North American Transportation Management Center, the UPS Logistics e-commerce distribution and technology campus, and online brokerage Ameritrade's new customer support center.
"We are thrilled that giggo.com, one of the hottest Internet companies in the country, chose Alliance for its national operations base," said Hillwood Properties President Mike Berry. "This deal continues to strengthen Alliance's position as one of the top locations globally for e-commerce and Internet-related businesses. The fiber-optic infrastructure, access to all major modes of transportation and low operating costs make Alliance unique in the advantages it provides to its residents, particularly those with a strong online presence."
