Detroit Diesel Delivers 2500th Series 2000 Engine
DETROIT, Aug. 28 Detroit Diesel Corporation
(DDC) announced the shipment of the 2500th Series 2000 engine. The engine, a
16V2000 industrial model, is destined for an oil well fracturing unit for
Sanjel Corporation, a specialized energy service company located in Calgary,
Alberta.
"It took three years to reach the 2,500 unit milestone, but due to rapidly
growing demand, we will build a total of over 2,000 of these engines this year
alone. This level of production demonstrates DDC's ability to rapidly meet
high volume requirements and continue to increase the number of options, power
output and quality, all at the same time," said Rob Tykal, Vice President and
General Manager for the Series 2000 product line. The DDC/MTU Series 2000
engines are available for Marine, Construction & Industrial and Gen Set
applications and range from 525 hp to 1800 hp.
