(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000825/DEF025 ) With 120 employees at the new facility, ArvinMeritor's Columbus Technical Center has nearly 300 employees in total and will be dedicated to perfecting and fine-tuning the company's advanced technologies in transportation emissions, acoustics and predictive systems, according to Bill Hunt, president and vice chairman, ArvinMeritor. "This new ArvinMeritor facility is an optimal environment for managers, administrators and engineers to continue to create cost-effective, high- quality solutions to our customers' air management needs," Hunt said. "We feel extremely confident that as part of the new ArvinMeritor, this facility will be brick-and-mortar evidence that we will continue to find new opportunities to apply our innovative exhaust technology to a broader range of vehicle components and systems." At today's ribbon-cutting ceremony, Hunt told local dignitaries -- which included Columbus Mayor Fred Armstrong, Congressman David McIntosh, Senator Richard Lugar and a representative of Senator Evan Bayh -- the new facility signifies ArvinMeritor's intent to maintain a significant presence in the area to service the community and customers while providing advanced technologies for a global economy.
