Transport Canada Approves New Low Speed Vehicle Classification

25 August 2000

KELOWNA, B.C. - Dynasty Motorcar Corporation (CDNX:DYC) has been advised by Transport Canada representatives that effective with the publication in the Canada Gazette Part II, Vol. 134, No. 17, regulations amending the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (Low Speed Vehicles) were effected.

Therefore, as of August 16, 2000 Low Speed Vehicles are a recognized class of vehicle in Canada.

Transport Canada's classification of LSVs closely parallels the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requirements for LSVs. The principal Canadian LSV requirements are that the vehicles be limited to speeds of 40 km/h (25 mph), and be equipped with headlights, taillights, brakelights, turn signals, windshields, a parking brake, rearview mirrors, and VIN and seatbelts in compliance with Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations. One key difference is that Canadian LSVs are defined as 4 wheeled, zero emission, electric vehicles. The full text of the Gazette can be found at www.dynastymotorcar.com/s/ArticlesAndComments.asp.

Dynasty, along with other members of the Electrical Vehicle Association of Canada (EVAC), including Ford and Bombardier, have been actively lobbying Transport Canada since 1998 to create this new vehicle class. In many vehicle applications high speed and long distances are not a requirement, and for these applications the LSVs provide a quiet, clean, economical, and environmentally friendly alternative to the internal combustion engine, with technology that is available today. Stated Dynasty chairman Barry Good "We congratulate Transport Canada on this initiative. Dynasty will continue to work with EVAC and other interested parties to encourage the provinces to amend their respective Motor Vehicle Acts to reflect this new vehicle classification".
