eAutoWorld San Diego Conference to Explore Impact of the Internet On All Aspects of Auto IndustryRICHMOND, Va., Aug. 23 The automotive industry has been rocked to its foundations by the arrival of the Internet and e-commerce. Automakers, suppliers, dealers, parts retailers and consumers are feeling the deep impact of the Internet and related technologies -- and the change is just beginning. eAutoWorld, scheduled for October 3-5, 2000 at the San Diego Convention Center, will offer a wide-ranging exploration of how the 100-year old auto industry is blending with the Internet. It will feature four tracks of presentations and panels covering the following topics: * eSupply -- Auto companies, suppliers, logistics firms and their technology partners are utilizing the Internet to speed design and production, lower inventory, reduce order-to-delivery time and streamline supply chain management and production forecasting. Experts from all of these fields will be at eAutoWorld to discuss the changes that the Internet brings to the building of cars and trucks. * eDealer -- A series of sessions will focus on the various web retailing services, online financing and information technology and customer relationship management tools that are revolutionizing the business for automobile dealers, owners and prospective buyers. * Aftermarket Parts & Accessories -- A wide range of experts from the aftermarket segment of the industry will discuss Internet-related techniques to build business-to business and business-to-consumer relationships and develop new streams of revenue. * iVehicle -- The Internet-enabled vehicle is coming. eAutoWorld will provide a close-up look at in-vehicle Internet applications, on-board entertainment, GPS and digital radio and TV services. The emerging field of telematics (the stream of information to and from a vehicle) will be a central focus of this track. "The changes in the automotive industry are occurring at an unprecedented pace and it's all because of the introduction of the Internet at all levels of the business," said Greg Colizzi, vice president of eAutoworld. "It's difficult for automotive professionals to stay abreast of all the change and emerging technologies. With that in mind, our objective is to provide an open symposium for the exchange of ideas and the most advanced forum for the discussion of new technology in the automotive industry." eAutoWorld will take place from October 3-5, 2000 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego. Registration fee for the show is $895 (after Sept. 9, $1,095), which includes admission to the exposition floor (featuring displays from more than 40 automotive and high-tech firms) and more than 50 presentations and workshops.
