September/October Issue of Hemmings Rods & Performance Zeros In on Chevy Small Blocks, Transmissions and Drag Racing Prep

22 August 2000

September/October Issue of Hemmings Rods & Performance Zeros In on Chevy Small Blocks, Transmissions and Drag Racing Prep
BENNINGTON, Vt., Aug. 22 After a successful debut earlier
this summer, Hemmings Rods and Performance continues to showcase the uses and
benefits of performance parts for street rods and performance cars in its
September/October issue.
Chevy performance takes center stage in the current issue, with Associate
Editor Rob Gross detailing the features of the Lunati stroker kits for the GM
LS1 engine, while freelancer William Truesdale provides insight into beefing
up the four-speed GM 700-R4 transmission.
On the rod side of the street, Associate Editor Jim Dietzler shows how to
enhance your business image by utilizing sedan delivery bodies, original and
fiberglass replicas, with a street rodder's edge for the ultimate
business/delivery/promotion vehicle. Eight full color photos illustrate the
latest delivery rods to hit the street. And if you are shopping for gauges
for those special rods, Gross surveys the analog and digital products
available -- and provides installation information.
Finally, reporter Vinnie Kung provides a step-by-step guide on how to
maximize your car, in preparation for drag racing with tips from NHRA Stock
Eliminator class ace Ken Miele. In all, the 144-page magazine has 24 pages of
editorial content -- up 40 percent from the debut issue with the remaining 120
pages jammed full of classified and display rod hobby advertising and events
listings in the mode of the parent magazine Hemmings Motor News.
"We had such good response from the technical articles that ran in the
first issue that we increased the editorial content for September/October,"
said editor Richard Lentinello, whose editorial details updating a classic
performance car to today's level of technical advancement.
Upcoming Hemmings Rods & Performance editorial features will include
in-depth parts reviews such as the pros and cons of a particular component's
construction, theoretical articles explaining the functionality behind the
design of individual engine and driveline components, and different engine
build-ups complete with dyno results, costs, and insights from the engine
builders themselves.
Each issue also features a new product section, car show, auction and meet
directory, and web site index for advertisers in addition to thousands of
display and classified ads for high performance vehicles, parts, products and
services organized by topic, make and model.
Hemmings Rods & Performance is available at newsstands and bookstores at a
cover price of $3.95, or by subscription for $17.95 per year. Additional
information can be obtained by calling Hemmings at 1-800-CAR-HERE
(1-800-227-4373), ext. 550, or by logging on to the magazine's web site at

Since 1954 the parent publication, Hemmings Motor News, has served the
collector-car hobby as its primary trading place and currently carries over
800 pages of hobby advertising each month to a paid circulation of nearly
260,000 and readership over 500,000. Loaded with tens of thousands of
classified and display ads for collector cars, trucks and motorcycles, parts
and services, clubs and events, and other hard-to-find resources for the
hobbyist, Hemmings has become indispensable to the collector car enthusiast.
Along with the monthly Hemmings Motor News and bi-monthly Special Interest
Autos, the company also publishes the Hemmings' Vintage Auto Almanac, the
world's most complete directory for the collector-car hobby and industry, as
well as the new Hemmings Rods & Performance described above.
Hemmings also offers a complete line of ancillary products, which includes
an extensive line of die-cast models, calendars, books and clothing, all
available by phone or online.
For online hobbyists, http://www.hemmings.com has greatly expanded its
information franchise, offering an online database of over 30,000 searchable
ads for cars, parts, tools and services plus a host of new features, including
Car Club Central, their unique Online Car Show, and an Online Dealer Showroom,
featuring the collector-car inventories of over 80 classic car dealers coast
to coast.
