BFGoodrich Cleared for Replacement in Firestone Recall

Tires Distributed Nationwide Through 10,000 Dealerships
     GREENVILLE, S.C. - Consumers who have been affected by the Firestone recall 
can now be reimbursed by Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. for approved BFGoodrich(R) 
tires purchased as replacements.

    "This is big news for consumers who have been trying to get replacement
tires in the past week," said Mathew Aaron, brand manager, BFGoodrich(R)
tires.  "Now the mechanism is in place for consumers to get reimbursed for the
tires they want."

    Since the recall, production of BFGoodrich(R) tires has increased
dramatically to fulfill national demand from its 10,000-dealer network and
Ford dealerships.  Additionally BFGoodrich(R) brand has worked closely with
Ford Motor Company to develop a list of authorized BFGoodrich(R) tires to
replace the recalled tires.

    Consumers may purchase BFGoodrich(R) tires from any tire retailer and
Bridgestone/Firestone will reimburse up to $100 per tire, including mounting
and balancing charges and taxes.

    Consumers who want to replace their recalled Firestone tires with BFGoodrich
tires can check out http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com to find the right tires for 
their vehicle and where they can find them.  They can also talk to their dealer 
or call the BFGoodrich(R) tires consumer help line at 1-877- BFG TIRE.

    BFGoodrich(R) tires are ranked "Best Original Equipment Tires for Light
Truck Vehicles in Customer Satisfaction" among first-year light-truck owners
according to the J.D. Power and Associates 1999 Original Equipment Tire
Satisfaction Study.
