Consumers Can Replace Recalled Firestone Tires At Pep Boys

19 August 2000

PHILADELPHIA - Pep Boys has announced that consumers can have recalled Firestone tires replaced at any Pep Boys Supercenter nationwide.

The Bridgestone/Firestone recall involves radial ATX and ATX II tires with the designation P235/75R15. Wilderness AT tires in the same size with an additional DOT code beginning with the letters "VD" are also being recalled.

Pep Boys offers replacement tires in all of their Supercenters. Consumers with recalled tires are eligible for reimbursement up to $100 per tire, including mounting, balancing charges and taxes from Firestone. Customers can get further information about returning recalled Firestone tires at any Pep Boys location.

"We are pleased to assist consumers by offering high quality replacement tires from Pep Boys," said Don Kolmodin, Pep Boys assistant vice president. "Driver safety is everyone's first priority and Pep Boys is ready to help during this emergency situation."

Among many styles of tires offered at Pep Boys, the Futura Adventurer has been called "an ideal replacement tire for someone who wants better performance from his truck or SUV," according to the May 2000 issue of Sport Truck magazine.
