INTERMET Names Raymond Michael Dimmer General Manager of Havana Foundry

    TROY, Mich. - INTERMET Corporation , one of the world's leading independent 
manufacturers of cast-metal automotive components, announced that Raymond 
Michael Dimmer has been named General Manager of its Havana Foundry, effective 
August 17, 2000.  The Havana Foundry is located in Havana, Illinois.  Dimmer 
replaces Thomas E. Woehlke, who recently was promoted to Group Vice President of 
INTERMET's Ferrous Metals operations.

    "With almost 30 years in the cast-metals industry, Mike Dimmer has the
operating experience and management skills required to lead our Havana Foundry
facility," said Woehlke.  "We are committed to maintaining premier Ferrous
Metals operations at INTERMET and Mike will provide the direction necessary to
continue the development of our outstanding Havana ductile-iron foundry."

    Dimmer comes to INTERMET from Gartland Foundry Company, Inc., a privately
owned foundry company located in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he was General
Manager, responsible for manufacturing operations, quality assurance and
employee services.  Prior to this, he was General Manager at H & H Castings
Inc. in York, Pennsylvania.  Dimmer began his career in 1972 with Harry W.
Dietert Co./Georg Fischer Foundry Systems, serving in a variety of
manufacturing, sales and technical positions.

    Dimmer earned a B.S. degree in metallurgical engineering-foundry
technology from Western Michigan University.  He is a member of the American
Foundry Society, Ductile Iron Society of America and the American Society of
Metals.
