CTS Corporation's Automotive Products Business Awarded Increased Sensor Business With Toyota Europe
ELKHART, Ind. - CTS Corporation , a world leader in automotive position sensor technology, today announced the award of additional throttle position sensor business from Toyota Europe for application in the manufacture of the Toyota Corolla.The award is for a multi-year program with production commencing in 2001. This is in addition to an initial sensor award from Toyota Europe for application in the Yaris, the new compact automobile that will go into production late this year at the new Toyota plant in Valenciennes, France. Combined volumes for these programs will exceed one million (1,000,000) sensors over the life of the contract. The contract expands CTS' business relationship with Toyota and increases penetration in Europe. CTS currently supplies similar products to Toyota Companies in both North America and Japan.
CTS Automotive Products was awarded the new business based upon a record of excellent product quality, on-time delivery, cost competitiveness and the company's global supply capability. A factor key to the additional European business was CTS' ability to provide local content. The position sensor products will be manufactured at CTS Corporation's Scotland facility located in Glasgow, U.K. Close coordination between CTS' Sales Office in Japan, sales and manufacturing operations in Glasgow, Scotland, and the CTS Automotive Products headquarters in North America, enabled the successful award of the Toyota Europe business.
